Wagering markets at Canada sports betting sites are closed for NHL Hart Memorial Trophy. So BetCanada.com developed hypothetical odds projecting which of the finalists would win the award. Who Are The Hart Trophy Finalists?

The three finalists for the honor as the league’s Most Valuable Player is down to two previous winners and one player who is trying to become the first goaltender to win the award in 10 years.

As you mull Stanley Cup odds with the playoffs going on, here is a quick look at the three Hart Trophy finalists.

  • C Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton Oilers: Draisaitl led the NHL in goals with 52; he won the Maurice Trophy by seven goals. The Oilers star was also tied for third in the NHL in points (106) and led the league in game-winning goals with 11. We rate Draisaitl as the odds-on favorite to win the award.
  • G Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg Jets: Hellebuyck, considered a lock for his third Vezina Trophy, led the league in wins (47), goals-against average (2.00) and shutouts (eight). Follow Winnipeg Jets odds throughout the playoffs with BetCanada.com.
  • RW Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning: Kucherov led the league in points (121) to earn the Art Ross Trophy and tied Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon for the most assists (84). He is a Hart finalist for the third time; Kucherov won the award in 2018-19.

Draisaitl won the award in the 2019-20 season, which was shortened by COVID-19 restrictions, so this would be his first honor in an 82-game season.

The Oilers have accounted for four Hart Trophies in the past eight years, including three for Connor McDavid. Check out Edmonton Oilers odds at BetCanada.com to compare operators.

The most recent goalie to capture the Hart Trophy was Montreal’s Carey Price in 2014-15, an honor Hellebuyck seeks to repeat. Only seven netminders have ever won the Hart Trophy, including two for Dominik Hasek.
